Laura’s Cheap Trick #25

Check out the new Car Fuel Economy Aps!

New fun they are.  So easy to tap the download button.  For the smart phone geek in all of is one to help lower your gas consumption and thus lower dependence on oil, (foreign or local)..and put money back in your pocket.

CarEconomy for the iPhone

The application shows your average fuel economy you can select from the following units: MPG (US and UK gallons), l/100km, 1/100miles, km/l.  Unlike other fuel economy apps you dont need to type in how much fuel you put into your tank when you fill up you just select your car and drive!

Fuelculator for the iPhone

Fuelculator is a simple, handy utility for estimating the cost of fuel of your next trip, based on distance travelled, fuel-economy (your vehicle’s MPG), and the current cost of fuel (from US national averages, or as set by the user).

There are also several others that can tell you when to change your oil, check your tire pressure and the other regular items we all see to forget…but you can also use a calendar program for that.

This tips came from our local Radio station: WTOP

NOTE:  Only download aps from reputable “stores”  Free does not mean always mean free..know when and what information you are choosing to reveal information about yourself and pay attention to the mandatory GPS locaters you must turn on to make an ap  function.
